Start small, and pick a space that fits the amount of time you have at that moment.
Sometimes too, your mood will direct you to what you want to tackle.
Here’s some ideas:
The junk drawer – dump it out, put in some holding containers (eg. an empty tissue box cut down to size), sort like with like, and only put back what belongs.
Your clothes closet – put out-of-season clothing and accessories out of the way, or in another closet. If you haven’t worn something for that past season, ask yourself why, and maybe donate it. That’ll give you room for new things once that season returns.
Filing – is old filing taking up space that’s needed for the current year? If yes, then move it to another space, or box it up for storing. You’ll know where it is if you need it, but it won’t impede the files you use most often.
Under the sink storage – remove expired products and bottles you no longer use. Sort, and store what’s needed in baskets, and place on portable shelving that fits the space.
Storage room – when was the last time you used some of what’s in there? Getting rid of even a small amount will free up space for other items that need to be stored. Also, arrange like things together, so it’s easier to find it when you need it.
Organizing is an ongoing process, so keep going on a regular basis.
